Zambian Traditional Wedding

Zambian culture is immensely rooted in the history that defines its people. The culture and its diversity are what makes it very interesting. We look at the tradition of marriage in Zambia. Marriage is a beautiful thing and is specially handled in the most delicate way in Zambia. In Zambia, we see marriage as two families coming together and sharing their different cultures. This marriage process is the site to see, and we invite our tourists to be part of this wonderful journey.

Zambian traditional weddings also known as ‘Chilanga Mulilo’, are the first step into the marriage ceremonies that start when a man pays the bride price called Lobola when he meets his missing rib. The lady and her family then prepare sumptuous meals and take them to the man’s place. From the onset of this event, starting with the preparation of the food to the serving is characterized is with tradition and if you are not Zambian you may not understand any of it but we assure you will enjoy it. We always invite our tourists to be open-minded and enjoy this experience as they learn something about Zambian Tradition.

To our female tourists

We invite you for a ride of your life and an enjoyable experience as you join the new bride in preparing the meals and participating in all the traditions that come with the event to the serving of her groom- her husband-to-be. This will be one hell of a ride for you as you learn so many things in one day.

To our male tourist

We want you to experience royalty as we watch the bride’s family deliver sumptuous meals to you and partake in the traditional dances and food. The many meals you will get to eat in one day will leave you satisfied for the rest of the day.
